Jessica and Dustin Holt, the founders of Appalachia Rising, were both raised on Hwy 107 at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Their deep love for this region’s history and their commitment to preserving its heritage inspired them to create a business that gives back to the community that has always been their home.

Dustin, a proud veteran, is known for his strong sense of adventure, love for life, and hardworking nature. His dedication to service and love for family fuel everything he does. Jessica, once a professional photographer who has traveled across the country, always found her way back to the hills of Appalachia, where the beauty of the land and the warmth of the people captured her heart. Together, they share a passion for the mountains and the hardworking spirit of its people.

At home, they enjoy spending time with their two teenage sons, Lane and Dalton, exploring the mountains, and relaxing by the Nolichucky River. Nature is their solace and inspiration, whether they’re taking a ride through the mountains or simply soaking in the peace of the river.

Jessica’s culinary talents have been honed through diverse experiences, including working as an executive chef at a country club. However, her true passion lies in Appalachian cuisine, where food is more than a meal—it’s a way to connect and care for others. It’s this belief that drives their commitment to feeding the community and sharing the rich flavors of the mountains.

Appalachia Rising is more than a business; it’s a dream born from both the trials of life and the desire to help others. Inspired by the resilience of the people during the 2024 floods, Jessica and Dustin turned their passion into a way to give back to the region that has always been their heart and home.
